San Francisco Unified School District, Substitute Teacher
- 2006: Took over Computer Arts class at Galileo Academy of Science and Technology for the final two grading periods.
- 2004-2005: As site support substitute for Galileo Academy of Science and Technology, I continue to supervise and teach classes while also working with students on collaborative art projects.
- 2001-present: Supervise and teach classes at public schools for absent teachers in all subjects and grade levels.
Upward Bound Summer Program Tutor and Teacher's Assistant
- 2003: Coached students through ACCESS, a challenging class in leadership and social activism employing the Youth Empowerment Approach. Tutored students during evening study sessions. Initiated collaborative art projects with young artists in the program.
CELLspace, Volunteer Leader
- 2000-2004: Helped organize youth programming, create publicity materials, set up for events, and generally assist in maintaining this non-profit artist collective in San Francisco.
A.L.L. Program, Documentation and Evaluation Coordinator
- 1998-1999: As an Americorps Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA), I documented and evaluated results of this School to Career program which serves all students at the Galileo Academy of Science and Technology (a public high school).
Art Experience
Freelance Graphic Designer
- 2004: Designed and illustrated a full color postcard for 'I an I Resource,' an education consulting firm.
- 2001: Designed and illustrated a brochure for REAL, a nonprofit education program.
- 2000: Designed the 92-page program and other materials for an annual conference held by Business for Social Responsibility, a nonprofit which counsels large corporations.
- 2000: Designed Osmosis, a schedule of fall classes at this artists' collective.
Art Teacher
- 2002-2003, 2005: Taught weekly mixed media drawing classes to students of all ages and skill levels.
- 2002-2003: Was substitute teacher for art classes at James Lick Middle School and International Studies Academy for stints of up to two weeks.
- 2001-2002: Facilitated art activities with the CELLspace SK8 Dojo, a free, weekly event for skateboarders seventeen years old and younger.
- 2001-2003: Orchestrated various collaborative paintings by people of all ages.
Set Design
- 1998: Painted three large works for the set of "Forbearance and Reclamation," a rock opera.
- 1996: Co-set designer for the Brown University production workshop's presentation of "Caucasian Chalk Circle."
